Peter is a respected Seacoast civil trial attorney, with extensive experience in civil litigation. Peter is regularly consulted by New Hampshire attorneys regarding construction, personal injury, commercial disputes, and family law litigation. His creativity and empathy help clients avoid the financial and emotional costs of protracted litigation; his extensive trial experience usually helps produce a fair resolution and also provides the client the comfort that even the most complicated case can be taken to trial if necessary.
Peter has tried approximately 50 jury trials and hundreds of cases before judges. He has obtained a number of jury verdicts in excess of $1 million, and was lead counsel in the Federal trial of Krempels v. Maine Turnpike Authority, et al., which resulted in a verdict of $12 million, the largest plaintiff’s personal injury verdict in the State of Maine. His background representing defendants and insurance companies as well as plaintiffs, and trying cases in front of juries, provides a unique perspective for a plaintiffs’ lawyer.
Peter also maintains an active mediation and arbitration practice. He has been involved extensively with civil mediation since the creation of mandatory mediation in the New Hampshire Superior Court system. He has served as a mediator in approximately 1,500 cases over the past 20 years. He has completed numerous mediation training programs, is a frequent speaker on mediation and litigation subjects, and has served as an instructor and judge for law school trial programs.
Prior to joining HPG&R, Peter was a founding partner of McNeill, Taylor & Gallo in Dover, New Hampshire.
As a small-town New Hampshire trial attorney, I am most proud of my selection in 2008 to the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of only 28 practicing attorneys admitted in New Hampshire. Trial work can be a tremendous experience, but can also be devastating, and my focus on mediation helps me understand how to settle a case quickly and fairly.
